Tony Li, 14, of Woodland Junior High School correctly spelled “adjoining” to win the 2009 Washington County Spelling Bee in the tenth round Saturday, Feb. 7, 2009, at the Fayetteville Public Library in Fayetteville. Jacob Elser, 12, of St. Joseph’s Middle School and Celestene Sebag of Shiloh Christian School took second and third place, repectively. The spelling bee featured 46 contestants from elementary, middle and junior high school’s from across Washington County. Li will represent Washington County in the Arkansas State Spelling Bee on Feb. 28 in Little Rock.
