I shot the setup today for the 6th annual Great Northwest Arkansas Model Train Show in Bentonville. This is one of those events that is better to shoot during the setup than the actual day of the show. Instead of getting photos of adults and children just looking at the model trains, you have the opportunity of getting actual hands-on shots. There were a few children present for the setup, and I obviously took advantage of the photo opportunity they provided, but what I really wanted to focus on was the men, and women, who were reliving their childhoods through their model train layouts. There are nine very finely-detailed layouts at the show. As someone who grew up playing with model trains, I really had a hard time concentrating on the work at hand. I certainly found myself wanting to just stop and stare at all of the cool layouts. If you have a spare hour or two Saturday afternoon you should drop by the Clarion Hotel and Convention Center in Bentonville. You won’t be disappointed.
