Rabies Awareness Week

I shot a rabies vaccination clinic today at the Bella Vista Animal Shelter in Bella Vista. At least 100 cats and dogs were vaccinated at the event. This week is “Rabies Awareness Week” in Benton County. It’s Arkansas State Law to have dogs and cats vaccinated for rabies. Several veterinarians in the county have partnered with the Benton County Health Unit to offer discounted vaccinations for pet owners. The rabies shots at the Bella Vista clinic were $5 each. Other routine vaccinations were also discounted, you could get a combo of rabies, DHLPPV (distemper-parvo), Bordetall (kennel cough) and a heartworm test for $35. That’s cheap. The event reminded me I need to get my dog, Juno, in for her vaccinations. Looks like I’ll be stopping in at the Sugar Creek Animal Hospital, the one hosting the Bella Vista clinic, before the end of the week to take advantage of the discounted shot prices. Here are a few photos from the Bella Vista event.
