FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS MISTAKE #64,897

Many of you are looking at the photo above and thinking, “What on earth is that?” I will tell you what it is; it’s a mistake, and a dumb one at that. I was shooting two guys working on pipes and I saw a pipe that was pointed towards them. Cool, I thought, I’ll shoot them through that. There were any numbers of problems with what I attempted and two quite large ones. First of all I shot with a 14mm lens. The problem with that is the 14mm is a very wide-angle lens. For this shot, I should have used a 200mm lens so you could actually see the guys through the opening. The other problem is the lighting. This looks like someone’s vision of what happens at death, heading through a dark tunnel to the light. I should have metered the guys, set my shutter speed and aperture manually and then shot. But I didn’t, hence perhaps the worst construction shot I’ve ever taken. It is good for a laugh though if you know photography.
