Sunday afternoon was a perfect day for a baseball game. And since I’ve been on a continued quest to improve my sports photography skills, it was nice to spend four hours with a 400, the hot sun, and a great game. Arkansas was playing Tennessee in the final game of the series at Baum Stadium. It went into extra innings with Arkansas finally losing by one run. At one point the center fielder ran to catch a pop fly, which seemed to change direction when it was in the air. So the left fielder ran to catch the ball as well, since it was probably closer to him to being with. They ended up colliding with each other pretty hard, and landed on the ground. In all the mess, Jacob House was still able to make the catch. But it wasn’t a pretty sight.
In the photo below, hitting coach Todd Butler expressed his frustration with the home plate umpire, while the third base ump had to hold him back. Butler was thrown out of the game after this incident.
